General FAQs
What grades do you offer?
ISMO serves students in grades 9–12. To be eligible to enroll in high school, students may not be older than 21 by September 1 of the enrolling school year.
How much does it cost?
ISMO is a tuition-free public school program, so you won’t pay for classes or materials. We provide state-certified teachers and instructional materials. You’ll just need to supply a few basic household items—like printer ink and paper.
Do I need to have access to a computer to attend?
Yes, since learning takes place online, your student will need access to a computer that meets the minimum tech requirements for the K12 School (OLS), along with an internet connection.
If that feels out of reach, don’t worry. Qualified families may be eligible to receive a loaner computer, printer, and internet stipend to help make things easier. These items are provided for learning purposes and must be returned if your student leaves the school.
If you have questions about technology or need help getting set up, our friendly enrollment team is here to help.
What will my child be learning?
Your child will study all the core subjects—language, math, science, and history—plus extras like art, music, health, and PE (depending on their grade level). Our curriculum is designed to engage, challenge, and inspire students at every stage of learning.
Will we receive textbooks and learning materials?
Yes! We’ll send you the textbooks and hands-on materials your student needs based on their grade level and courses. High schoolers do most of their work online, but you’ll have what you need to support your child’s learning at home.
Can my child move at their own pace?
ISMO provides a structured yet flexible learning environment. The program includes weekly assignments, scheduled lessons and activities, and assignments with set due dates. Optional and required instructional sessions are scheduled throughout the week to support student learning. Students have the flexibility of creating a schedule that enables them to complete academic work and receive teacher support throughout the day.
Do you support students with special needs?
Absolutely. If your child has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 plan, we’ll work with you to tailor instruction to meet their needs. Just reach out to our team, and we’ll connect you with our experienced special education staff.
What if my child is behind on credits or failing classes?
ISMO specializes in addressing the needs of students who are struggling. Our credit recovery and remediation program helps students get back on track.
Will my child have chances to socialize?
Yes! We know how important social time is. We offer a wide variety of virtual clubs where students can connect with friends who share their interests—from art and photography to robotics and esports.
Will my child be able to graduate like traditional public school students?
Yes. ISMO is a Missouri-recognized public school, so when your child completes the graduation requirements, they’ll earn a high school diploma—just like students in traditional schools.
